CurbToll
Privacy Policy
Last updated · 6 July 2026
CurbToll helps you trade focus for scroll time. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it lives, and what we will never do with it. The short version: we don't run analytics, we don't track you, we don't show ads, and we never sell or share your data. The data we do store exists solely so the app works for you.
What stays on your device
- Screen Time data. App blocking uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework. The apps you choose to shield are represented by opaque tokens that only your device can interpret — CurbToll's servers never see which apps you selected, and Apple's framework does not expose your app usage to us.
- Doomscroll measurement. Minutes of distraction are computed on-device by the Screen Time extension and stored locally.
What we store for you (and why)
If you create an account, we store the following in our backend (Google Firebase), keyed to your account, so your history survives a new phone and your squad features work:
- Account identity — your sign-in identifier from Apple, Google, or your email address, plus the username you pick.
- Focus history — your sessions, daily totals, currency ledger, and streak state, synced so a fresh device can restore them.
- Squad data — your squad membership and weekly Net Focus Score, visible only to members of your squad.
- Referral data — who invited whom, used once to pay referral rewards and prevent abuse.
We use Apple's App Attest / Firebase App Check to keep abusive clients out of the backend, and sign-in emails are rate-limited using a short-lived, one-way hash of the email address (never the address itself). Purchases are processed entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details.
What we will never do
- No third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. None.
- No selling, renting, or sharing your data with anyone.
- No tracking you across other apps or websites (the app contains no tracking, so it never asks for tracking permission).
Export and deletion
- Export: you can export your complete history from the app (Settings → Export my data; part of the Premium subscription).
- Deletion: Settings → Profile → Delete account permanently deletes your account, your entire server-side history, and all local data. This is immediate and irreversible.
Children
CurbToll is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
